Page Nineteen

Sir Bedivere gave Excalibur back to the Lady of the Lake in Arthurian legend - in this 'verse, Morgan le Fay later won it from the Lady of the Lake in a poker game.

Little known fact: Morgan le Fay is a poker shark.

page Eighteen

Hero Origin! When I draw Bedivere sometimes, I forget his eye patch. Would it be ironic to say that I almost forgot to draw him without an eye patch in the second panel there? (I had to edit it a little in photoshop because there was this line across his face...)

Page Seventeen

I like to think that Sir Seraphin learned how to speak English (with no overly noticeable accent!) for the sole purpose of talking his opponents ears off as well as his allies'.

When I first designed him, a friend mentioned he should be in love with Simon for the angsty hoyay love triangle (he was being sarcastic). But I can't help but think that if the comic had a fandom, this page would be the cargo for the Bedivere/Seraphin ship.

This is why I should do stuff with more female main characters.

Page Sixteen

PS: the Character Profiles have been updated. With pictures! The only picture I'm not really satisfied with is Bedivere's. Go figure. Simon's, Sir Seraphin's, and Olive's turned out the best, I think.

Page Fifteen

Simon sums up the fight so far. Thanks Simon! Also, monocles finally has a name - Sir Seraphin! .... Okay, the name made sense to me.

Excuse me while I go edit the cast pages now.

Also note that Olive can't speak German, and the Black Knight can't speak English, so in this page they don't really understand exactly what the other is saying, but I would think that they have a general idea. However, they can both speak French.

This whole sequence is /is going to be the hardest part of this project. I'm not very good with action scenes. And I'm going to have to make this one stretch.

I'm trying for "minimalist colouring" here.

Finally! All the characters have been introduced. Well, unless you count "called by name".

I was actually thinking about cutting her out, but then I remembered that I'm doing this for myself. Also, I'm procrastinating the Fight Scene.

How to make speech bubbles in photoshop: make a new layer. Go to the little "f" button in the layer menu - at the bottom of the menu should say "stoke". Do this. Now, whenever you use the oval selection tool and fill it in with white, you have an automatic speech bubble, just had the little dangly thing.

Page Six

I used a different brush for this one, but I doubt that anybody other than me would notice (It makes it easier to do thin lines, that's about it).

I kept on rewriting Bedivere's reaction in the last panel there, that's why he has three.

Page Five

Bedivere is so awkward to draw from that angle. It was a kind of last-minute decision to make them wear more casual clothing for this scene.

I didn't really like this page when I drew it, but it isn't -that- bad. Although I think the music I'm currently listening to might change perceptions.'

There was actually supposed to be a page where Bedivere was agonizing over how he should sign the letter. "Your friend"? "Sincerely?" "Love?" But I cut it - mostly because I forgot until just now.

The problem with Pen and Ink is that it's very hard to correct mistakes.

Mostly I just like the "I'm studying! I'm studying!" panel.

I'm not sure when people started using the term "DNA", but you know, nothing says "**** historical accuracy" like a Hitler!T-Rex can.

Page One

This is the last time I'm doing a page that's bigger than the scanner can scan. It's also the last time I'm going to try to duplicate Golden Age comics - parody yes, actually try to catch the mood? No.

I set myself a few challenges for this project. 1) One page per day. No exceptions (well, okay, maybe christmas) 2) Ink and Brush 3) Have Fun.

Character Profiles

Okay, here's a better version of my last post.

Allies:


Name: Arthur Bedivere Fredrickson
Powers/weapons: Excalibur (both the sword - which cannot break, and the scabbard, which means he cannot bleed)
Notes: the Main Character. Wears an eyepatch. Sometimes jumps into situations without really thinking about it - if you ask him for help, he'll help.


Name: Simon York
Powers/Weapons: He uses magic sometimes but rarely.
Notes: Probably one of the most important characters. He's a pacifist, kind-hearted, sometimes annoying. Intellectual nerdy type.


Name: Olive Blanche aka the White Knight
Powers/Weapons: Voulge, armour. Faster and able to jump higher than a normal human (like an anime character, not like Action Comics #1 Superman).
Notes: Blonde hair, brown eyes. From Quebec. Prickly and easily annoyed. Rather slim for such a scrapper.


Name: Susan Scott aka Lady Shield
Powers/Weapons: superpowers, no weapons
Notes: Brown hair, blue eyes, great... tracks of land. Australian. If this were a Five Man Band, she'd be the Chick - at first glance. But don't underestimate her.


Name: Jack Fox aka Blue Barricade
Powers/Weapons: superpowers, no weapons (and yes, I am being purposely obtuse, I do know what their superpowers are)
Notes: African American, from a north-eastern state in the USA. Essentially easy-going and perceptive, he sometimes says the wrong thing, but is still a nice guy.

Name: Lieutenant Ralph O'Brien
Powers/Weapons: Military standard equipment, no powers
Notes: He's the military liaison and Jack's best friend. Normal, but has a strange obsession about his scarf. You're better off not touching it.

Name: Sir Seraphin
Powers/Weapons:
Notes: The German Counterpart to Arthur Bedivere. He has straight flat black hair and a monocle. Not technically a member of the Nazi party, he has a strong sense of honour and is obsessed with protecting "his people".


Name: the Prussian
Powers/Weapons: Guns. He likes guns.
Notes: He's the one on the first page pointing a gun at Bedivere. Devoted to the Nazi party and Germany - despite considering himself Prussian (Prussia founded the German Empire in 1871, and "Prussia"'s status within Germany has been confusing ever since. In other words, I need to do more research).

Name: Dr. Diederich
Powers/Weapons: See notes.
Notes: Nazi Scientist, he keeps on inventing stuff - weapons as well as other things. Wants to keep the Hitler legend going. Knows a lot about Cloning. Wears itty bitty spectacles.


Name: The Black Knight
Powers/Weapons: Twin axes
Notes: In German tradition, the Black Knight was the hero. She is a firm member of the Nazi Party, but not necessarily the people within the nazi party. She is usually annoyed and condescending, or angry and condescending.

Powers/Weapons: She's quite an accomplished sorceress
Notes: She mostly lives with the Faeries, but there are ways to contact her. She has a strange sense of humour, and spends most of her time nowadays playing poker.
